Gas Furnace to Heat Pump

Requirements for the upgrade

The new heat pump must:

Replace the existing primary heating system.

Be sized to function as the primary heating system of the home.

Have a minimum capacity of 12,000 BTU (1 ton).

Serve a main living area (e.g. family room, living room, or open-concept kitchen-living room).

Have an AHRI certified reference number that references all components of the heat pump.

Be listed as a qualified system on the Qualified Heat Pump Product List.

Have a maximum static pressure of ≥ 0.6” WC.


Please note: The primary backup system must not be natural gas, oil or propane. Homes with natural gas or propane fireplaces are eligible if the fireplace is a secondary heating system. The application and supporting documentation must be submitted by the program registered contractor within six (6) months of the invoice date

Program eligible products vary by upgrade and must be installed by an program registered contractor

Standard Clean BC Rebate No Income Requirements

You must apply for this rebate AFTER the work as been completed on your home.

CleanBC Save money on home upgrades

The CleanBC Better Homes and Home Renovation Rebate Programs, administered by BC Hydro, FortisBC and the Province of BC, provides rebates for improving your home’s energy efficiency through select upgrades.

Please Note: If you are submitting an application for a bonus offer that includes both a heat pump and a natural gas fireplace or natural gas hot water heater, use the BC Hydro Online application.

Loans & Funding

The Canada Greener Homes Loan offers interest-free financing to help Canadians make their homes more energy efficient and comfortable.

The loan can help you finance eligible retrofits that are recommended by an energy advisor and that have not yet been started.

IMPORTANT: You should not start any retrofit work before your loan application has been submitted. Any retrofits started before submitting your loan application are ineligible.

Maximum: $40,000

Minimum: $5,000

Repayment term: 10 years, interest-free
